It would be inconceivable that Gerhardt should omit the first Psalm from his themes, and his hymn adapts so well the biblical text that we should expect more than the one English version of J. Kelly, 1867, p. 130. In his rendering the translator has done well to infuse much of the poetic language of the English Bible.
